I am a book addict. I adore them. The perfect gift for me would be book tokens, without fail... and I have a massive library of natural health books... so on that note...
The following are resources I use regularly:
One of my yearly indulgences is Llewellyn's 'Herbal Almanac'. A reasonably priced book with really interesting articles, by really interesting people. It sometimes takes me the year to get through it, as I read little bits at a time (amid the other twenty books I'm probably reading at the time)!
Herbals
Everyone interested in herbs needs Susun Weed's wonderful books. I use them regularly, especially 'Healing Wise' and 'Wise Woman Herbal for the Childbearing Year'
David Hoffman 'Holistic Herbal' is a good starting book, and found everywhere
Juliette de Bairacli Levy 'Common Herbs for Natural Health' and 'Nature's Children' Timeless information by an amazing woman
Carole Fisher & Gilian Painter 'Materia Medica of Western Herbs for the Southern Hemisphere' is fantastic for us down here anyway. Two more amazing women
Deni
Brown's 'Herbal. The Essential Guide to Herbs for Living' is a
beautiful book I use often
'Weeds
Heal' by Isla Burgess - this is a great reference for practical work
with plants and their energies. Essential for allowing the student
to experience the herbs completely
Nerys
Purcheon books such as 'HerbCraft' and 'BodyCraft' are great for the
more creative side of things
'Growing
101 Herbs that Heal' by Tammi Hartung is an excellent photographic
reference book I use often when gathering
Aromatics
Anything by Valerie Ann Worwood. I love 'The Fragrant Heavens' most of all personally
'Aromatherapy. An Illustrated Guide' by Clare Walters is a good starting point, with lovely illustrations
Again, anything by Shirley Price. I find her 'Aromatherapy Workbook' brilliant, although I think it's now out of print
'The Complete Guide to Aromatherapy' by Salvatore Battaglia. More advanced info, but really thorough.
I will add more as I find them....
